Real awarded prices from the production dataset, not a mockup. Recent years are drawn solid because they carry the most weight in the average.
The problem
Estimators pay the “what did it go for last time” tax.
How it goes now
- Dig through letting PDFs one at a time
- Guess at four years of inflation
- Call two people who might remember
- Round up and hope
What it costs
- Bid high, lose the job
- Bid low, eat the margin
- Miss the window entirely
- No answer when your PM asks how you got there
With BidParser
- One search, 24 years of awards
- Every price adjusted to today
- Corrected for all 50 states
- A number you can show your work on
What it does
Pay item lookup
Type a code or a phrase. 20200100 returns the exact item; “hot-mix asphalt binder” returns every one that matches. 33,166 pay items indexed, each with unit price, quantity, contract and letting date.
Inflation adjustment
FHWA NHCCI quarterly indices, applied per IDOT division. A 2012 price is not a 2026 price, and the difference is not a guess — earth excavation has run roughly five times since 2003.
Regional factors
Illinois is the baseline. RSMeans-style multipliers carry any price to any of the 50 states plus DC, so Illinois award history is still useful on a job in Texas.
Confidence scoring
Every price carries its percentile rank against the full historical distribution. A tight spread means the number is solid. A long tail means go look at the contracts before you commit.
